Who runs this
This practice site is a small private beta run by one parent for a small number of invited families. They decide how the data below is used. To contact them, use the Feedback page after signing in.
What we keep
- About you: your name, email address and password (stored only as a one-way scrambled hash).
- About your child: first name, school year, a 4-digit PIN (hashed), the route and school order you chose, practice settings, and whether you turned on the practice board (and the name shown there).
- Practice: the answers your child gives, marks, time taken, skill levels worked out from them, and mistakes to revisit.
- Word practice: which vocabulary flashcards your child turned over, and word-quiz answers.
- Anything you send us: feedback and question reports.
- How you found us: the invite code you typed, your answer to “How did you hear about us?” if you gave one, and which of our own links (for example on a flyer) you opened before signing up.
- Whether you ticked “Send me occasional 11+ tips” at sign-up or in Settings, and when. It is off unless you tick it, and you can turn it off in Settings at any time.
- Simple usage records kept in our own database, such as “practice started”, to see whether the site is working.
We do not ask for surnames, dates of birth, addresses, photos or the school your child attends now. There are no adverts, no public profiles and no messaging.
Free resources (no account needed)
Our Free Resources pages can be read by anyone. One of them, the Top 100 words pack, asks for an email address first. For that we keep: the email address, which resource was asked for, the time, and whether the optional “occasional 11+ tips” box was ticked (it is unticked unless you tick it). We use the address to give you the download and, only if you ticked the box, to send occasional 11+ emails. It is not linked to any family account and is never shown to children. A cookie on that device remembers that the form was filled in, so the download stays open for 90 days. To be removed, use the Remove my email page; we check each request by hand and delete the address within a few days. If you use “Request Beta access”, we keep your email address and the time you asked, and use it to email you an invite code (and, only if you tick the tips box there, occasional 11+ emails); the same Remove my email page deletes it. Page-view counts on those pages are kept as simple totals with nothing about the visitor.
Contact page
If you write to us through the Contact page, we keep your name, email address, topic and message, and use them only to reply. You can use the same page to ask us to delete a message or your address from the free-resources list; we reply by email.
If you choose a paid plan
Payments are handled by Stripe. You type your card details into Stripe's own page, and we never see or store your card number. From Stripe we keep only your Stripe customer number, whether your plan is active, and when it renews or ends, so the site knows whether practice is open. Stripe keeps its own payment records, as the law requires, under its privacy policy. We use this information to provide the plan you chose (the lawful basis is our contract with you). If you delete your account, any plan is stopped at once and we ask Stripe to remove you as a customer.
Why
To run the practice site for you: choosing questions, marking, and showing you progress. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in providing the service you signed up for; you can stop at any time by deleting your account.
Who can see it
- Only your family can see your child's answers and progress. Families cannot see each other's data.
- The question practice board, if you turn it on, shows other families only the name you chose (an anonymous nickname, a first name or another name) and how many questions were finished. Never scores, school choices or anything else.
- The Word Practice Board is on by default, under an anonymous nickname made of initials and a number (for example LT27). It shows other families only that name, how many different words were seen, and how many this week. Never quiz scores. You can switch it off, or show a first name or another name instead, in Settings.
- The site owner, and anyone they make an admin to help check questions, see parent email addresses, feedback and totals across all families. The admin pages do not show children's names, answers or results.
- Service providers: the site is hosted by Vercel and the database by Supabase, both in Ireland (EU). Payments are handled by Stripe, which may process data in the United States under the safeguards UK law requires. Our emails to you (password resets, the weekly progress email and plan reminders) are sent through an email provider. Page fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. We do not sell or share data with anyone else.
Cookies
One cookie keeps you signed in on this device, and one remembers a free download you unlocked. If you open one of our own links (for example from a flyer), a cookie remembers which link it was for 90 days, so we can see which of our posts and flyers help families find us. It holds only the link's name. There are no advertising cookies and no third-party trackers.
Emails about your account
Besides tips (below), we email parents about their account: a short progress note every Sunday evening about how your child's week went, and reminders before a free trial, beta access or plan is about to end. The weekly note is on unless you turn it off, with the link in the email or in Settings. Plan reminders always come, because they affect your account. We keep a simple record of which of these emails were sent, so none goes twice.
Tips emails
Wherever we ask (sign-up, Settings, free downloads, Request Beta access), the “Send me occasional 11+ tips” box is unticked unless you tick it. If you tick it, we may email you a few times a term with 11+ tips, free resources and news about 11+ Practice. We never sell or share your email address with anyone else. To send these emails we may use an email service, which handles the address only on our instructions. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and families can also turn it off in Settings.
How long we keep it, and your choices
- Data is kept while your account exists. Payment records are kept by Stripe, and by us where tax law requires (usually six years), even after an account is deleted.
- In Settings you can download a copy of everything we hold about your family, and delete your account. Deleting removes your account, your child's answers and progress, your feedback and your usage records straight away. Question reports stay, with nothing linking them to you, so mistakes in questions still get fixed.
- You can ask us to correct anything, or complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
