What to practise
- Reading comprehension: Read widely every day and answer questions about what the writer means, not only what happens.
- Creative writing: Write short stories and descriptions against the clock, then check spelling and punctuation.
- Maths: Keep arithmetic quick and accurate, and practise multi-step word problems up to the end of Year 6.
- Verbal reasoning: Build vocabulary and learn the common verbal reasoning question types: codes, hidden words, series and word links.
- Non-verbal reasoning: Practise shape patterns, codes, reflections, folding and cubes until the question types feel familiar.
